Planned Parenthood 2021 Annual Report: 383,460 Abortions – Highest Number Yet Reported

Planned Parenthood released its 2020-2021 annual report that showed, despite the COVID pandemic, the organization performed 383,460 abortions – the highest number of abortions it has yet reported – and received an increase of $15.3 million in taxpayer funding from the previous year.

“Planned Parenthood health centers are proud to provide abortion,” the organization declared in its latest annual report:

Last year was a year like no other. As the COVID-19 pandemic continued, Planned Parenthood remained committed to the communities we serve. As patients delayed getting some kinds of care, we were here with the care that couldn’t wait.

In one of its new endeavors, Planned Parenthood boasts its target audience is young black and Hispanic individuals:

Planned Parenthood launched Be Seen, a brand mission campaign that creates an opportunity to talk about Planned Parenthood’s values with a priority audience: 18- to 29-year-olds in Black and Latinx communities.

National pro-life leaders noted that, as COVID descended, Planned Parenthood not only sued its way to ensuring its primary service – elective abortion – was not treated as “elective” along with the mammograms, colonoscopies, and other services that were brought to a halt as the COVID pandemic hit the nation. The organization actually collected COVID funds intended for America’s “small businesses.”

“Many have noted that Planned Parenthood did not ‘need’ COVID-19 relief funds,” wrote Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins in an op-ed at The Washington Times in April.

She continued:

Abortion was largely exempted from pauses on “elective” medical procedures, allowing Planned Parenthood to continue business as usual while actual health care providers languished. Not only did they not close their doors in the same way that other businesses were forced to, Planned Parenthood repeatedly went to court asking judges to exempt them — and they won. Planned Parenthood took states like Oklahoma and Texas … to court to keep the abortion money coming and their doors open.

Ryan Bomberger, chief creative officer and co-founder of the Radiance Foundation, also noted Planned Parenthood’s successful business year in a column last week, particularly in light of how many other businesses failed to thrive during the government-managed COVID pandemic.

“In 2020-2021, people lost businesses they spent their lives building,” Bomberger wrote:

Planned Parenthood, however, was open and cashing in on COVID. In a pandemic where they provided 200,000 less breast cancer exams and Pap tests (combined) than the previous year, PPFA somehow managed to have plenty of time to kill more human beings than ever in their history: 383,460. The abortion giant violently ended 28,589 more human beings from July 2020 through June 2021 than the year before.

“Their profits skyrocketed, too, from $69.7 million to $133.7 million,” he added. “It’s amazing what happens when fear is your business model. Even though they served 260,000 fewer clients than the year prior, they managed to rake in the most taxpayer dollars ever: $633.4 million!”

“Drastically fewer clients + drastically fewer medical services + stolen taxpayer dollars + more abortions = pay dirt,” Bomberger asserted.

The Charlotte Lozier Institute, the research arm of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, summarized some of the data from Planned Parenthood’s past 10 annual reports, revealing how little actual “health care” the abortion business provides.

Since 2010:

  • Total services are down 21.4 percent.
  • With changing practice guidelines, total cancer screening and prevention services have dropped by 74 percent, including declines of 77 percent for breast exams and 74 percent for pap tests.
  • Prenatal services are down 72 percent.
  • Contraceptive services are down 41 percent.
  • Unique patients have dropped by 840,000 since 2010 – a 28 percent decline. Despite the downturn in most of its “health care” services, Planned Parenthood reported $1.7 billion in income in year 2020-2021, and over $2.1 billion in net assets – an increase since last year.

The organization’s taxpayer funding, which made up 37 percent of its overall revenue, came in the form of government grants, contracts, and Medicaid reimbursements – all of which, combined, provided the abortion business with $633.4 million from Americans, an amount that is $15.3 million more than the previous year.

Planned Parenthood also received $579.3 million from private contributions, an increase of 14 percent from the previous year.

The current annual report shows the group’s “excess of total revenue over total expenses” (profits) to be $133.7 million, while last year’s report revealed an “excess” of $69.7 million.

In addition to providing abortions, Planned Parenthood’s recent business venture has been what LGBTQ activists call “gender-affirming care,” or cross-sex hormones for individuals with gender dysphoria.

One affiliate boasts on its website that Planned Parenthood is “the nation’s second largest provider of transgender cross-sex hormones.”

It may appear odd, then, that Planned Parenthood lists its “transgender services” in a mere footnote on page 27 of its report, combined with all other miscellaneous-type procedures.

“Other Procedures” is explained in footnote 7, which states, “Some examples in this category include WIC services (a federally funded nutrition program for low-income women, infants, and children up to the age of 5), pediatric care, transgender services, other adult preventive care, and high complexity visits, including infertility services.”

Hawkins noted the 383,460 unborn lives ended in abortion as Planned Parenthood continued to make the claim it is providing “health care.”

“If your health care kills people on purpose, you’re doing it wrong,” she asserted.
