JD Vance Well-Received by Republican Leaders as Former President Trump’s 2024 Running Mate

Elected officials and leaders of the Republican Party expressed tremendous support for Ohio U.S. Senator JD Vance (R-OH) after former President Donald Trump announced Vance as his running mate in the 2024 presidential election.

“After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Monday.

Vance was officially nominated as Trump’s running mate at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Monday just after 4:00 p.m. CST.

Trump’s choice of Vance for vice president was well-received by Republican leaders and elected officials.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine said Vance, who is 39-years old, will “bring a new generational perspective” to the presidential ticket.

“President Trump has made a great choice and Senator Vance will be a great partner as they campaign together this fall,” DeWine said.

Bernie Moreno, the Ohio Republican nominee for U.S. Senate, also congratulated Vance on his nomination as vice president.

“President Trump made a brilliant selection in [JD Vance]. JD is a dynamic, visionary leader who is the perfect messenger for the America First agenda alongside President Trump. He will fight with President Trump for our middle class, secure our border, and unleash American energy. I am proud to call JD a friend and I look forward to working with him to fire Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Sherrod Brown,” Moreno said.

Alex Triantafilou, chairman of the Ohio Republican Party, said the Buckeye State is “swelling with pride” after Trump announced Vance as his running mate.

“Senator Vance understands the devastating impact that Joe Biden’s policies have had on working Americans. With inflation crushing the middle class, Senator Vance will join the president in restoring America’s economic strength. He is the best choice for America,” Triantafilou said.

Vivek Ramaswamy, Ohio businessman and former presidential candidate, said he was “so proud” of Vance’s nomination as vice president.

“So proud of my friend, classmate, and fellow southwest Ohioan today. We used to watch Bengals games at the bar in law school, it’s awesome we’re now here a decade later with JD joining the strongest presidential ticket in our lifetime. He’ll be an outstanding Vice President and I look forward to everything ahead for him and for our country,” Ramaswamy said.

“I believe Trump-Vance will be the most formidable presidential ticket of my lifetime,” Ramaswamy added.

Vance was also well-received by other Republicans who were reportedly on Trump’s list for vice president, including Florida U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), Florida U.S. Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL-19), and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum.

Rubio, Vance’s colleague in the U.S. Senate, called Vance a “fantastic choice” for vice president.

“JD Vance is a fantastic choice. Americans will soon see this is an incredibly intelligent and talented man who is completely committed to making America great again,” Rubio said. “Vote for #TrumpVance2024 so we can unite our people and save our country!”

Donalds called Vance an “American patriot.”

“Congratulations to [JD Vance] on being the VP nominee. JD is an American Patriot, and he has my full support,” Donalds said. “I am all in to make Trump-Vance the winning ticket this November!”

Burgum, who also ran for president before suspending his campaign, said Vance’s “small town roots and service to country make him a powerful voice for the America First Agenda.”

“I look forward to campaigning for the Trump-Vance ticket to Make America Great Again,” Burgum added.
